Information on International Driving Permits, Laws, etc.
NOTE:

An International Insurance Card, aka a "green card," is required in most European countries. You can get one for free from your insurance company if you purchase minimum liability coverage.

An International Driving Permit is written in nine languages and assures local police that you have a valid driver's license - an important concern if you are stopped for an accident or traffic violation. Request an application from the local office of the American Automobile Association or other motor club. (as this writing (MAY '99) The cost is $10, less for AAA members).
